Ready to Parent?
Having a baby is a HUGE commitment and responsibility. It takes a lot of hard work, energy and sacrifice.
Sometimes this can be difficult for any young person It can be extra hard for young people who have been in care because they may not have a safe family network to help them bring up their children. You may have had poor experiences of being parented so you may need extra help and support during pregnancy and beyond.
Our advocates can support you if you are involved in safeguarding or care proceedings with your children.
You have rights...but remember that your baby has rights too!
extra support
If you are a parent – or a parent-to-be – we will support you to care for your child safely. This includes access to an early parenting assessment programme (known as an EPAP) if you want it. You will be supported by a specialist team of social workers based in a children’s centre. They offer parents a chance to prepare for the birth of their baby and support them after the birth with a programme of baby-focused work, teaching and guidance.
